Summer Checklist

Summer checklist

Before you head off into summer break, please take a moment to look through this checklist and information about the 2025-26 school year to help with planning.

  • Return all textbooks, class materials and library books to avoid fines.

  • Chromebooks and Google accounts:

    • Grades 6-11 will keep their Chromebooks over the summer.

    • Primary school students may check out a Chromebook for the summer by contacting the student help desk: studenthelp@battlegroundps.org or 360-885-5444.

    • Monitor Chromebook use with the Go Guardian parent app.

    • All student Google accounts will remain active through Aug. 8.

  • Skyward upgrade: Battle Ground Public Schools will be transitioning to a newer version of Skyward - Family Access this summer. While we anticipate minimal disruption for parents, there are a few dates you should be aware of:

  • Sunday, July 6 - Last day to enroll a new student prior to the switch (please be aware, if you do not complete enrollment or the annual student update process prior to this date, you will need to start from the beginning when Family Access reopens in August)

  • July 7 - Aug. 3 - Family Access offline for parents and guardians

  • Monday, Aug. 4 - New system rollout begins

  • Monday, Aug. 11 (tentative) - Online enrollment resumes

  • Summer School: Credit recovery and original credit summer classes for high school students.

  • New this year: Battle Ground Community Education's summer camps will be open five days a week! Classes include full and half-day sports camps, volleyball skills camp, STEM camps, as well as a selection of dance workshops for children as young as 3. To see a full list of available camps and register, visit the Battle Ground Community Education website.

  • Remember that Care Solace is available all summer long to students and their immediate family members. Care Solace is a complimentary and confidential care coordination service that can help any student and/or their immediate family members quickly find mental health or substance use treatment options matched to their needs, regardless of insurance or circumstance. What you need to know for fall

  • First day of school: Tuesday, Aug. 26, for first through 12th grades. Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten students will have a staggered start to help students get acclimated to the school environment on the first days of school. Parents will receive a letter before the start of school about their child’s start date. The first full day of school for kindergartners and transitional kindergartners is Friday, Sept. 5, 2025.

  • 2025-26 calendars are online.

  • Confirm that your child meets Washington state immunization requirements by the first day of school or has a certificate of exemption.

  • Make sure your bus transportation selection is up-to-date for the 2025-26 school year in Skyward. If your child(ren) were signed up for bus transportation this year, your stop will automatically be routed for next year. See the bus routes page for instructions.

    • Bus routes are typically available the week before school begins. The new FirstView bus tracking app makes it easy to find your routes, view near real-time location data, receive notifications about delays or cancellations and much more. The code for families to sign up is K1Q0K.

  • Right At School will continue to provide before/after-school care at all seven primary school locations.

  • Supply lists will be posted on the district website by the end of July. Due to the double levy failure, the district will no longer be able to provide free school supplies for primary grade levels.

  • Students whose families do not have a stable living environment may be eligible to receive McKinney-Vento services, including continued attendance at their current school, full participation in school-related activities, transportation to and from school, free school meals and academic support. Complete a housing questionnaire in Skyward - Family Access or contact your child’s school or the Family and Community Resource Center.

  • Many high school sports have summer training programs open to incoming students. More information is available from each high school's Associated Student Body office.

Thank you and have a GREAT summer!
