Recent input from families, staff and the community indicated a desire to reduce student screen time and scale back the use of Chromebooks, especially for younger students.

While Chromebooks will continue to play an important role in providing access to learning materials, student work and testing--and a shift in Chromebook use at some grade levels does not result in significant cost savings--we want to be responsive to the feedback that we received. In addition, we will not have enough staff next year to effectively support the same level of technology in the district. As a result, we will be making adjustments to how school-issued technology is used, particularly at the primary and middle school levels.

See a summary of the changes.

We believe this approach strikes a thoughtful balance between student learning/skill development and the feedback we heard from families who want clearer boundaries around device use. Thank you for your continued partnership in student learning.
